Settling the game developers concerns over the expected delays and price hikes because of the rating system proposed in Byron's report, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has stated that the new system won't be taxing to the customers.

Dr. Tanya Byron, TV psychologist, has proposed a new rating system for classifying video games, in a comprehensive report, emphasizing the inappropriate effects of digital and online media content on kids, in her report published in March this year.

As of now, BBFC is ratifying only those games which the Pan-European Game Information (PEGI) system certifies as suitable for the kids of age of 15 or above.

However, Byron's report recommends that BBFC should rate all games meant for the age of 12 or above as per the PEGI system.

Responding to price hike issue, BBFC director David Cooke, has mentioned that the BBFC's rating system will be much cheaper than the prevalent PEGI system, and thus any shift will lead to substantial price-cuts.
